RESOLUTION
IN OBSERVATION OF THE MONTH OF MAY AS
NATIONAL PRESERVATION MONTH
SPONSORED BY THE
NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION
WHEREAS, under the sponsorship of the National Trust for Historic Preservation May 1 through May 31 is observed annually as National Preservation Month.
WEREAS, the City of St. Charles has a rich historical heritage from its settlement in 1769, and is now celebrating the 200th anniversary of its incorporation as a City in 1809.
WHEREAS, the Historic Landmarks Preservation and Architectural Review Board expresses pride in the City of St. Charles neighborhoods and structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places along with its many other architecturally important structures and historically significant sites and monuments.
WHEREAS, the Historic Landmarks Preservation and Architectural Review Board expresses its appreciation and respect to citizens of City of St. Charles for their accomplishments in renovation, restoration and preservation of historically and architecturally important structures and environments.
WHEREAS, the Historic Landmarks Preservation and Architectural Review Board supports the goal of the City of St. Charles Comprehensive Plan to ‘INCREASE THE PUBLIC’S UNDERSTANDING OF, PARTICIPATION IN AND APPRECIATION FOR THE CITY’S HERITAGE AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION EFFORTS’.
NOW THEREFORE THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS PRESERVATION AND ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD encourages participation in May Preservation Month ‘THIS PLACE MATTERS’ activities and supports recognition and appreciation of the diverse places that matter to St. Charles citizens.
